We're excited to announce the launch of Sunrise Valley Television (SVTV), our very own student-led news program! SVTV is a chance for our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders to step into the spotlight, using their creativity and teamwork to deliver news, updates, and fun segments to the whole school.

Sunrise Valley teachers were showered with appreciation from students and families this week.

On Thursday, our Young Scholars in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades embarked on an amazing learning field trip to the Thinkabit Lab by Qualcomm on Virginia Tech's local campus in Falls Church, Virginia.

Our school was recently recognized by the Virginia Department of Education and the Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children as 2022 Purple Star Schools. The Purple Star designation is awarded to military-friendly schools that have demonstrated their commitment to meeting the needs of military-connected students and their families. 

6th Graders finished their last year at Sunrise Valley Elementary School with a piece of reflective writing. The following poem, by student Iona Bendernagel, was highlighted at the 6th grade promotion ceremony for students, staff, parents, and community.

Congratulations to 2nd Grade teacher teacher Alexandra Walker who was recognized as the FCPS 2022 Region 1 Outstanding Elementary Teacher and one of the five finalists for the FCPS Outstanding Elementary Teacher at this year's FCPS Honors event, held at George Mason University Center for the Arts on June 8th.
