Sunrise Valley Elementary hosted a heartfelt Veterans Day assembly, bringing together students, families, and distinguished guests to honor the service and sacrifice of veterans and active-duty military members.

April 17, we wear purple to support students with families in the military.

Jody Delaney, after being away for 18 months, is returning to Sunrise Valley Elementary School in a new role as the Assistant Principal. During her recent tenure at Sunrise Valley ES, Mrs. Delaney served in multiple roles, including Acting Assistant Principal, Summer Site Director, and Music Educator. Prior to stepping into administration, Mrs. Delaney spent 15 years teaching General Music at Kent Gardens, Freedom Hill, and Sunrise Valley Elementary Schools.

The competition featured an impressive 16 rounds of spelling, with the finalists tackling challenging 8th-grade words. The word that secured the win was "lyricist" in its singular form.

Welcome thank you for joining us today for our veterans day assembly. We’re not together in-person as we are in a normal year but we are coming together virtually. This is a really important event for our school community as we teach our students about honoring and celebrating our veterans. So, all of our veterans out there today, you are the heroes in our community and we just want to take the time to thank you and express our gratitude for the sacrifices and service you make and also that of your families. So our students have been working very hard on their performances as well to really share their thanks and express their gratitude as well. So hopefully everyone really enjoys all of these performances today and once again to all of our veterans, thank you.
