Jody Delaney, after being away for 18 months, is returning to Sunrise Valley Elementary School in a new role as the Assistant Principal. During her recent tenure at Sunrise Valley ES, Mrs. Delaney served in multiple roles, including Acting Assistant Principal, Summer Site Director, and Music Educator. Prior to stepping into administration, Mrs. Delaney spent 15 years teaching General Music at Kent Gardens, Freedom Hill, and Sunrise Valley Elementary Schools.

Most recently, Mrs. Delaney has served as the Assistant Principal at Haycock Elementary School. While at Haycock, Mrs. Delaney has focused on bringing Portrait of a Graduate Presentations of Learning for all students, creating a New Teacher Trainee Cohort Professional Development Program, and working with the Student Services team to facilitate Family Book Studies and monthly Parent Coffees centered around student wellness. Mrs. Delaney’s dedication earned her the well-deserved nomination as Haycock Elementary's Outstanding Leader for the 2023-2024 School Year. 

A proud graduate of Fairfax County Public Schools, Mrs. Delaney holds advanced degrees in both Education Leadership and Music Education from George Mason University, along with a Bachelor of Music degree from McGill University. As a parent with three children in FCPS, Mrs. Delaney values the importance of meaningful partnerships between educators, families, and community members in supporting each child's success. Her commitment to fostering such partnerships aligns seamlessly with our school's values.
