2024-2025 School Improvement & Innovation Plan

Reading by 3rd Grade

Outcomes: 

  • By June 2025, grade 3 Students with Disabilities will increase their Grade 3 Reading SOL passing percentage by 5% from 69% to 74%.
  • The percentage of students in grades K-3 meeting or exceeding VALLSS screener benchmarks will increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2024 to spring 2025.
Strategies: 
  • Increase teacher content knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with science-based reading research to improve implementation of new core curriculum.
  • Increase efficiency of instructional delivery to ensure all students have daily access to all components of the language arts block as outlined in the new core curriculum.

 

Elementary School Math

Outcomes: 

  • By the end the 2024-2025 school year, multilingual students in Grades 3-6 will increase their SOL pass rate from a 69% to 75% pass rate with all multilingual learners showing growth. 
  • By the end the 2024-2025 school year, all students in Grades 3-6 will increase their SOL pass rate from a 85% to 90% pass rate.
Strategies:
  • Increase students' self-efficacy around the ability to be successful in mathematics.
  • Increase teacher's implementation strategies related to Shift 8: from looking for correct answers towards revealing student thinking.

 

Portrait of a Graduate (POG)

Outcome: 

  • By the end of 24-25 SY, students K-6 will develop skills in specials areas and collect evidence for the POG attribute Goal-Directed and Resilient Individual, to be able to participate in a Portrait of a Graduate Presentation of Learning (POGPOL) as measured by POG rubric.  
Strategies:
  • Together with students, co-construct with a class what the skill looks and sounds like and make the skill visible (Resource 1; Resource 2 for IB schools) in the classroom.
  • Create opportunities for students to share their growth in a POG POL (Portrait of a Graduate Presentations of Learning - Resource 1) or, for IB schools, ATL POL (Approaches to Learning Presentation of Learning - Resource 2).

 

Socio-Emotional Learning & Wellness

Outcome: 

  • All students will demonstrate at least 5% growth in the area of Emotional Regulations as measured by the SEL Screener.  
Strategies:
  • There is dedicated time during the school day to develop and utilize SEL competencies and mental health protective factors, beyond the required practices (e.g. SEL curriculum). 
  • Staff establish multiple avenues and outlets for families to learn about mental health and SEL and to provide feedback to inform school planning (e.g., newsletters, family events, staff/student/family surveys, student focus group, feedback from student clubs etc.).
