Racing Toward Our Attendance Goals

Virginia schools are now using a new system to measure performance. "Distinguished" is the highest rating, requiring a score of at least 90 points.

Parent Partnership is key!

Current Absence Data:

• 46% of SVES students have been absent 5 or more days this school year.
• 16% of SVES students have been absent 10 or more days this school year.

Attendance Matters:

• Student attendance is an important factor in the new accountability system.
• All absences (excused and unexcused) are counted by the state.
• Daily attendance is essential.

Addressing Challenges:

• Flu season and family travel have impacted attendance.
• Please utilize school breaks for family trips whenever possible.
• Minimize absences outside of scheduled breaks.

• Ensure students are present and ready to learn every day.
• Work together to maintain high attendance.
